spent three weeks in Mexico recently, we’re always excited to check out a new Mexican restaurant in London, so when we heard about Santo Remedio, which has just opened in Shoreditch, we were straight down there to check it out. The restaurant itself is tiny so be prepared to get very friendly with your neighbours and hey, after a few margaritas, you may even make some new friends.

The menu is short but sweet with fresh, modern Mexican dishes. We were big fans of the classic guacamole (there’s also a version with grasshoppers) and the homemade salsas to start. Tacos are a must-order and you can’t go wrong with the carnitas – pork confit, caramelized with orange juice and Coca-Cola, with salsa verde, red onions & coriander. We could have eaten ten of these alone. Also check out the baby potato flautas, the cactus slaw and the amazing churros with dulce de leche dipping sauce for dessert.
