We
talked to FEMME and get to find out all about her choices for ‘The Song That…’Got me into music…
Carole King – “Natural Woman”. My Dad used to play her album Tapestry on repeat in the car in the school holidays, usually camping trips to Wales or Scotland. As a result I chose to sing this song in a local regional talent competition when I was a teenager, something I went on to win which made me take music a bit more seriously rather just belting out the Little Eva impressions behind closed doors.
Reminds me of my favourite festival…
I love this year so far…
Nao – “Fool To Love”. I’ve loved every single thing that Nao has done to date. I think she is hands down the most exciting talent in the UK right now. I can’t wait for a full length album.
I want played at my funeral…
Beach Boys – “Don’t Worry Baby”.This is one of my favourite songs of all time so i’d probably play it any occasion but somehow it seems entirely inappropriate yet wildly appropriate for my funeral.
I would play in a set to impress…
Janet Jackson “If” – Kaytranada remix or Ultraísta – “Smalltalk” Four Tet remix. I love to play the Kaytranada remix of Janet Jackson’s “If” – it always goes down so well, but depending on the crowd I’ll also slip in the Four Tet remix of Ultraísta “Small Talk” – it’s one of my all time favourite remixes (and it’s also my vocals on it, so you know, that’s great too).
Always gets me up and dancing…
SBTRKT – “Wildfire”. Something about that beat, that bass, that voice. Every time. I just recently heard him drop this live at SXSW, I was instantly elbowing my way to the front.
Sums me up…
Bow Wow Wow – “I want Candy”. Fun, upbeat. Summery. A little bit wonky. Definitely dirty.
