quartet Hinds, have been causing quite a stir since bursting onto the scene and with the release of debut album ‘Leave Me Alone’ in January, the indie gang just go from strength to strength. So we decided to have a little chat with a slightly hungover Hinds, the day after their headline show at Koko…

You’ve just played a sold out show at KOKO, how was it?

It was crazy, just so so cool. Everyone went wild, people were jumping around and crowd surfing.

Since 2013, you’ve spent most of your time on the road, what have been the highlights?

Glastonbury. We just love going to festivals really, but being Spanish we always judge a place depending on the weather too. So Hong Kong and Australia stand out oh and Vietnam – we were headlining a festival there and we were the only international band playing so they treated us like queens, and the stage was connected to the beach…and now we’re in rainy East London, life is treating us well.

Talk us through how the songwriting process happens for you guys?

Everyone writes their parts and we usually have to write while we’re on the road, because we don’t have time to sit around and jam, so we do melodies and guitars at the same time. And while we’re on the road, we experience new things which gives us ideas for songs too.

What’s your favourite thing about London?

We never really get to spend that long here, so because we usually play in Camden, it’s where we hang out and have our after parties – Joe’s bar in Camden is a fave, it’s so weird, everyone in their is weird, but we love it. Oh and Wagamama. Coming to London is always fun because we have a lot of friends who live here,  so it’s like a reunion when we come back with lots of beer.

What new music are you listening to at the moment?

And finally what are your embarrassing guilty pleasures?

Drake, we love drake, like seriously, Rhianna, Destiny’s child. Oh and you wanna be an American Idiot….Green Day, we meet up purposely just to listen to it.
