Sexy Fish is the HOT new opening from the Caprice group, the people behind the Ivy, 34 and Scott’s. It’s already causing quite a stir for all kinds of reasons, from the A-listers pictured going through the doors to the price of the fit out and all that Damien Hirst artwork; and then there’s the name which some people have taken quite a disliking to as well. We popped along to see whether Sexy Fish was all that sexy… first things first, the design is loud, the interiors are in your face and you feel like you could be in Shanghai. But it’s so in your face that it’s hard not to love it, especially when the cocktails rock up in treasure chests with edible sand. Full on? Yes. Good cocktails? YES, YES, YES!
Food is Asian inspired and the menu has a strong seafood theme. Dishes are to share and of the bunch we tried, the scallops with jalapeno sauce and pickled apple was the highlight – the sour spicy sauce was so punchy we could of downed a whole jug of it. Other stand outs were the tuna tartare with lotus chips and shavings of fresh truffle, miso and yuzu glazed salmon and the pork belly skewers. Then there’s the other diners…Michael Caine, Noel Gallagher, Paul Smith and Lindsay Lohan were all in the house on our visit. It’s that kinda place. Whether fish can be sexy or not is still to be seen but Sexy Fish left us feeling pretty bloody sexy. In fact we’ve already booked our next trip…
