LITTLE SISTER (TRANSGRESSIVE RECORDS)

Halloween hasn’t come early, it’s just Alberta’s Fist City getting up to lo-fi hi-jinks in their new video. It doesn’t sound like Billy Idol’s White Wedding, but looks like its channelling pre-LOTR Peter Jackson. It’s eerie and a bit spooky, but like the band, at it s core beats a sensitive heart. It’s about a girl just trying to fit in, and soon meets a cult  that could just be a weird frat house, and she’s being initiated.

The tune itself is fuzzy, shreddy and ready to rock. The band have been going since 2009, but still sound like they’re actually having fun. Their subject matters may be poignant, but watching other videos like Blow, you know they don’t take things too seriously.

With twin siblings Kier and Brittany Griffiths fronting the band, you can tell its a family affair. Kier directed the video, the band is tight, and with Evan Van Reekum on guitar/songwriting, and powerhouse drummer Ryan Grieve smashing the percussive walls down for them, they can do no wrong.
