Ivy restaurant re-opened this month following a refurb, but don’t worry you’ll still find those stained glass windows, green leather booths and the celeb clientele only now it comes with an amazing bar and some very special toilets too. The menu has also had a revamp, but that too has kept some of the classics including the shepherds pie and chicken masala. We went for the new dishes however: punchy sea bass ceviche with avocado and plantain crisps and pretty-as-a-picture yellowfin tuna & salmon sashimi to start.

We followed with seared scallops served with caramel garlic, soy-braised pork, XO dressing and a super tender fillet steak. When it comes to sides DO NOT MISS the Parmesan-fried courgettes and the fresh tomato and basil salad. For dessert the Ivy tasting plate means you get to try three different desserts – jelly, cherry and chocolate.

The Ivy might have had a refurb but the best thing is it’s managed to improve on certain areas whilst retaining the things that always made it such a special dining location, including the glitzy feeling. Yes that was Jade Jagger and yip that’s Nancy Dell’olio at the bar…
