love London, we do. But sometimes it can do you the world of good to leave the city behind, swap skyscrapers for some good ol’ countryside and the big smoke for some real fresh air. And we may have just found the perfect place to do just that. Located just a short distance from the Norfolk Coast is Barsham Barns; a collection of luxury holiday cottages and barns available to rent in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk countryside.

We settled into the impeccably designed Greys Court barn with its cosy interiors, farmhouse feel and spacious high-beamed rooms and knew within five minutes that we never wanted to leave. It was a haven of calm and the silence from our surroundings was a soothing welcome change. After lunch, we were treated to an afternoon group image consultation led by our very own personal stylist and a sophisticated pre-dinner activity of wine tasting as part of the Girls Weekend package. Becoming a better dressed wine connoisseur in the time between lunch and dinner? Two big life ticks right there.

Each barn is self-catered so you can bring your own food or book ahead with Barsham Barns’ catering company to deliver. After an evening stroll around the fields, we sat down to enjoy a delicious dinner in the barn’s open plan kitchen, with food from the local farm shop and the rest of the wine to “taste”. We can honestly say we haven’t felt so truly relaxed in a long time. Life was only made that bit sweeter when we sank into our giant king bed and woke the next day to glorious sun and blue skies. Oh Norfolk, you well and truly spoiled us.
