REVIEW: THE AERONAUT AT ACTON

is a pub not a pub? When it’s the Aeronaut, Acton. Yes, it does a great selection of beers and pub grub, but there’s more than meets the eye… There’s actually full blown brewery on-site (no micro here), churning out 1400 pints a week.

There’s also a circus themed courtyard with booths decked out like different attractions and entertainment to match – no we don’t mean Steve, will he/won’t he fall over. ‘Circus’ on a Friday is an absolute blast. ‘Tina Turner Tea Lady’ is the compere with the big hair, who will have you rolling in the aisles.

Then there’s the food; crispy pulled pork croquettes, creamy fishcakes, steak and chips with silky bone marrow butter and Acton Ale braised shallots and juicy beef burgers.

The menu changes subtly throughout the day and night (we WANT the crispy duck salad and red wine and wild mushroom risotto) and there’s reasons to keep going back too with comedy, table tennis, Sunday roasts, bottomless brunch (unlimited Bloody Marys!) and dance lessons spread out over the week. Might be a weird location but hey, at least you can make a day of it.
