PRIEST | THE GAME
The first single to be taken from the Florida-based duo’s forthcoming debut album, The Game is a gorgeous synth-driven mid-tempo that appears to be influenced by the likes of indie-pop songstress Sky Ferreira and, oddly enough, church hymns. Pair that with the tracks teenage romance-style lyrics – “In your eyes there’s a fire that I could use, to see through the darkness of my life” – and we’ve got something truly special on our hands.

A strikingly brash take on the up and coming Brit singer’s brand of dark pop, If My House Was Burning sees her channeling current chart Queen Paloma Faith, albeit in a less watered down and actually listenable kind of way.

Packed with glittering synths and an unexpectedly huge-sounding chorus, Acre Tarn’s latest effort is one of those tracks that makes you smile from ear to ear from start to finish without even realising.
KID WAVE | WONDERLUST
Taken from their forthcoming LP of the same name – due for release on June 2 – Wonderlust is a confident serving of Californian-style pop that’s going to help tide us over until the UK finally gets to bathe in some sunlight.
THE VAULTS | POISON
Another dark pop track this week, this time from British newcomers The Vaults, who instantly call to mind the likes of Kate Bush and Tori Amos with their latest effort, Poison. Packed with a swooping chorus and some on-point vocals from singer Blythe, Poison is the perfect track to listen to on those bitterly cold walks home after work.
