then there were 6. Rosa’s Thai Cafe, which started life way back when as a market stall on Brick Lane has now opened a 6th branch in Angel. Located just off Essex Road the restaurant is simply decked out with wooden booths, neutral colours and lots of light, a contrast to the colourful, fiery dishes coming from the kitchen.

Even if you’re not a huge fan of Thai you’ll find something to like on this menu, it’s big. We started with a spicy-HOT Papaya salad, fresh and crunchy it left our lips on fire and the lightly spiced fish cakes with a crushed peanut and chilli dip.

We followed with the punchy chilli sea bass, a generous portion of lightly battered seabass fillets with fresh chilli, lime juice, palm sugar, garlic and vegetables and the stir fried crispy pork with kra prow sauce which actually wasn’t as spicy as the menu warned, but rich and tasty all the same.

Rosa’s comes up a bit more expensive than your standard Thai joints but portions are generous and you know you can be sure of fresh, decent grub.
