sugar and spice and all things nice…not really! Not when you listen to the debut single Cotton Candy from the last Band of the Month of 2014, it’s sexy, it’s dangerous, it’s cool …oh they are a good one. Ladies and gents, let us introduce you to Keroscene…

Tell us how Keroscene was born?

We formed last summer. I had been working on some ideas for a while and we had all known each other for some time playing in different bands and stuff, so we decided to come together to make an album. We were living in Willesden in this old run down space and we set up a little studio and recorded the album over the course of the summer. Once that was done, we all felt like we had this very close musical bond that we wanted to continue.

What goes into the influences that makes up your sound?

We were listening to a lot of 80’s punk and Crosby, Stills and Nash when we recorded. So I guess our influences lie somewhere between the two. But I think because we were approaching these songs from such a sonic perspective, we all wanted to make a great sounding record that brought out the most in each song in an interesting way. We were able to be completely free in the studio and try a lot of stuff out. I think that desire to experiment is a very intrinsic element in our sound.

Tell us the plan for 2015 and your double A-side 7″?

We are putting out our first single “Cotton Candy” with another single “Storm O.K.” as a double A-side 7 inch and download in late January. We’ll be releasing more music throughout the year and we also have a lot of live shows coming up.

We’ve heard about your monthly warehouse parties in Westbourne Park, tell us more?

After we finished recording, we moved into this warehouse with a few friends. The original idea was to make a creative space for the community where people could come hang out and jam, paint or whatever. We had a few parties and felt like it would be a cool place to have live shows. So since then, we started organising monthly nights where we invite other bands to come down and play and we base the whole party around that. The response we’ve been getting has been really incredible! We had 120 people at the last one and it went till 6 am. People like that fact that its underground and a bit hidden, but at the same time very open and free. We don’t charge for entry and its BYOB. But most importantly, its about the music and giving bands a place to play.

What new music are you listening to?

A lot of good new music has been coming out of the States this past year, we loved the new Cloud Nothings and Cymbals Eat Guitars records. That new Faith No More track “Motherfucker” totally blew us away. The lyrics are so vivid and full of this highly articulate anger. People always complain about the lack of social or political commentary in music these days, but that track is one of the most on point things we’ve hard in a while.
