Belgraves, A Thompson Hotel is in one of London’s plushest neighbourhoods, surrounded by national embassies and luxury hotels. More intimate and understated than many of the traditional grand hotels in the area, Belgraves has a modern, stylish design about it which gives it the feel of a small boutique hotel. The entrance lobby, for example, is all exposed brickwork, quirky light fittings, modern art, comfy designer armchairs and coffee tables with chunky photography books spread across them.
Upstairs the rooms are pretty BAWLER – we had a Studio Suite decked out with a huge bed, little lounge area with sexy window sofa, desk, well stocked mini bar and huge wardrobe space. But, best of all was the huge white marble covered bathroom including a humongous shower and a bath set into the window so you can look out over London while you soak away with a glass of wine. A word of warning: you can see into the next rooms from the bath – and they can see you – so get those side blinds down people, no one likes a flasher!
Belgraves also do a banging full English breakfast and eggs Florentine which was delivered to our room perfectly on time with the Saturday papers – winning. Downstairs, there’s Sophie Michell’s Pont St restaurant which we reviewed back in May and also an outdoor terrace for drinks.
