no denying it people, the dark nights are here but that doesn’t mean the city should be any less appealing. We caught up with one of our fav London after dark photographers Edo Zollo to tell us what happens on the streets when the sun goes down.

You were born in Italy but how long have you lived in London? Where and why?

I have been living in London for 13 years. I have lived in west London, Chiswick, since my arrival. I really like the green areas and the cafés. It feels like living in a European city, and it feels like being in a village yet less than half an hour from central London.

Tell us more about your pictures…why did you decide to do London after dark?

London is one of the most photographed cities in the world, from the architecture to what’s going on, and yet we rarely see pictures of the darkness of London. This city past bedtime is completely different from the classic “tourist postcard”. When the sun goes down, London dramatically transforms into stomping grounds for a dark and brooding cast of characters. With my voyeuristic, dimly-lit shots I try to catch London sinister scenes. Plus I don’t sleep much so rather than stay indoors watching some trash telly, I rather go out after dark.

You’re big on instagram, which other London Instagram accounts should our readers be following?

Thank you, I guess I am not the only one that can’t sleep at night. I follow @london, it’s an excellent showcase of London and Londoners.

What areas of inspiration can you recommend for budding photographers?

Composition, point of focus, and subject. A picture needs to say a story. Don’t be afraid to find your own style. Think outside the box.

Finally what would your perfect day in London be?

Late night dinner at Zucca restaurant, followed by a dessert at Princi and a few hours walk wandering the streets of London, at night, of course!
