Family Project opened up on Great Eastern Street back in November and since then it’s been quietly doing its thing. There’s a bar upstairs serving a cracking cocktail list and snacks – go for the Lost Negroni and truffled mac’n’cheese – then downstairs there’s a spacious restaurant serving huge portions of modern British grub.We kicked off with crunchy Quinoa Fritters with spicy avocado sauce and a punchy lime and tomato salsa and Cornish Crab with avocado sauce and crostini. For mains the Pork Rib Eye Steak cooked on the Josper Grill with a warm chorizo, potato, spinach and green bean salad was an absolute beast. The Baked Salmon and Asian Herbs was a lighter dish, however no less generous with a huge portion of salmon on top of a creamy mix of aubergine and sweet potato.
We couldn’t manage a dessert, we did however tackle the wine list which has over 90 wines on, something for all budgets. The restaurant also do brunch and there’s talk of a 70’s pop-up coming soon. Get down and check it out…
