a firm favourite on the Old Street eating scene, Alan Yau’s Busaba Eathai has now upped its game with the opening of its very first cocktail bar.

Designed by award-winning bartender Joe Stokoe of drinks consultancy – Heads, Hearts and Tails, the new cocktail lounge’s bar menu now offers a range of cocktails with an extra kick, in keeping with the exotic tastes that Thailand is renowned for. Our favourites included the Lychee and Kaffir Lime Martini (jasmine and kaffir lime infused vodka with lychee and lemon); the Bangkok Mule (gin with galangal, Thai basil and ginger beer); and the Tamarind Negroni (gin, martini and Campari with tamarind syrup).

The authentic experience doesn’t stop there, though. For those wanting to savour some of the restaurant’s exquisite flavours, expect small bar snacks including Thai beef jerky, taro chips, prawn and corn fritters, crispy rice cakes, chicken wings and por-pia jay.

The new lounge will be open seven days a week. And for Busaba die-hard fans, be sure to join in with the Thai New Year Songkran Festival celebrations next weekend, as the restaurant takes part in the opening of the new east-end venue, Fairground.
