With a background burgeoning in illustration and his confident use of a hefty colour palette, Joseph Turvey was always destined for design success. His major AW13 presentation with Fashion East set him up as one of the go-to designers for experimental textiles and wild illustration-based design which he’s since followed up with bigger and better collections for each passing season.
Naturally it’s pretty darn exciting when you hear that a young designer with a style as strong and confident as Joseph Turvey has been secretly beavering away with high-street, fashion power-house River Island through their Design Forum. The River Island Design Forum picks up on bright-young-thing designers and gives them the opportunity to put together a capsule collection that they then sell online and in selected stores.
It can be tough for designers as visually imaginative as Turvey to create something wearable and high-street friendly, but thanks to those River Island whizz-kids, they’ve seriously pulled it out of the bag. With his camo-heavy collab, Joseph has been able to translate his colour-blocking and illustration into some street-style, luxe sportswear which naturally, we love.
