week’s Londoner is Nicholas Goodden or Nico as his homies like to call him. Nico has two jobs, on one hand he’s a Sales & Marketing Manager and on the other hand he likes to take pictures. We caught some words below…

Firstly tell us where do you live in London and why?

I live in South Ealing an area that has a village feel. Why? Well I have always lived mostly in West London and shared a house with really lovely people and that is priceless.
We’ve all had experiences of terrible house shares so when you find the right flat mates, you think twice about changing.

Geographically I’d rather be more East as it’s better for my photography, but in a way East remains special maybe because I don’t go there on a daily basis.

You are a man of many talents, tell us more about what you do…

I have a day job which is important as I don’t have to worry or compromise as a photographer. No need for shooting weddings or cute babies. I’m Sales & Marketing Manager for 40 serviced apartments in Kensington. it’s called Monarch House, I’m successful at my job and love what I do. I have a background in luxury hospitality having worked for COMO and InterContinental to name a few. Photography has helped me get better at my job as I have learned the importance of networking, use social media (I have 45000 Twitter followers, 20% of which are in London) and sell in my own way.

On the other hand my career has also taught me a lot which is often an issue for artists, who aren’t always great at getting people to see their work.

How did you get into photography?

I got into it fairly late actually, in 2008. But I’ve had a website since 2010 which I’d consider as the date I decided I’d make it as a photographer. We all see life flashing by, we loose friends and close ones, and I guess I’m always trying to stop time in my own way. That’s what made me start shooting. And since I take photos, I look for beauty in the most unexpected places, it opens your vision and your mind.

Stopping time, yep we could do with stopping time. So where’s your favourite place to take pictures in the city?

East London. Although I am aiming to be renowned as a London photographer, I keep going back to East London, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Brick Lane, Hackney…I even have a dedicated section on my site on East London Photography.

Finally what would your perfect day in London be…

I’d be teleported to East London to avoid an hour in the tube. I would grab breakfast somewhere, wander around with my camera until lunch. Eat ribs at Beard To Tail with a beer. Wander some more. I’m not difficult and don’t have expensive tastes. I actually live my perfect day nearly every weekend except the teleportation bit of course.
