GARAGE
15TH OCTOBER 2013

The sold out show at The Garage on Wednesday as part of the Q Awards gigs series saw psych rockers TOY smash through a killer set giving the audience a taste of what’s to come on album number two.

Opening their show with ‘Kopter’ the band played in almost complete darkness with flickers of light appearing on singer Tom Dougall face. Who else could open with a nine minute wall of sound full of hypnotic loops…sheer brilliance.

As a band, they look amazing, you can’t help but look at them. Their stage presence is magnetic and complimented with an amazing lights show and just a wee bit of showmanship – five strong barnet mop tops shaking their shaggy mains through strobe lighting makes for brilliant viewing!

The crowd showed their appreciation though ‘Motoring’ and ‘My Heart Skips a Beat’ which sparked a bit of a frenzy down the front! New songs were aired and nodded along to but it wasn’t until the last track where the astonishment really came into play. ‘Join the Dots’ opened a new vision of where the band can go, dancey beats began…no this is not TOY going disco…It’s TOY at the top of their game and mastering their sound. It’s un-bloody -believable Jeff! Outstanding show!
