weekly Sunday brunch has started at the mighty W hotel…allowing people to enjoy a lazy day, nursing a hangover with food, sweets, vibes and our essential hangover cure, a cup of tea! We went along last Sunday to kick back, slip on the supplied tartan slippers and feast on an array of courses whilst reading the morning papers and listening to some damn right groovy Sunday music.

The brunches are hosted by resident DJ and professional show-off Anna Greenwood, of Guilty Pleasures fame, you’ll notice her spinning the tracks dressed in glitter and sparkles and ‘is she a reveller from the night before’ may cross your mind…don’t worry she absolutely is and will help create a relaxed lazy Sunday atmosphere with a little added groove.

The brunch itself starts with a pot of crunchy granola served in a quirky jar with yogurt and fruit, followed by a tier of miniature traditional breakfast dishes – we were all about the Smoked Haddock and Salmon Scotch Egg. A Yorkshire pudding filled with super soft roast beef and mash with a side of gravy followed, served up alongside a bowl of truffle mac and cheese. By this point it’s game over, but if you do have space you can head to the sweet selection complete with pick and mix bags and load up from the jars filled with everything from homemade crispy cakes to packets of Fizz Whizz.

There’s more too…the 39-seater Screening Room is transformed into a plush TV pad, with the likes of Absolutely Fabulous, Flight of the Conchords and New Girl showing non-stop throughout the afternoon. What did we tell you, fill a bag of sweets and get in there.

Brunch will set you back £25 per person and you can even upgrade this to include bottomless Bloody Marys or other drinkies of choice. Get on it like a car bonnet.
