a new restaurant in Dalston, located just off the strip, it’s a little bit hip with a grown up menu offering British cooking with good wines and a cocktail list. Jones & Sons has been open around a month now and as well as lunch and dinner it’s bringing a decent brunch to Dalston. FINALLY…

Housed in the old Arcola theatre, inside the decor is pretty simple with wooden tables, high ceilings, a leather sofa along one wall, open kitchen and bar. We went along to sample the dinner menu, starters are all pretty appealing – Blackened Beef Carpaccio was complemented by radish, rocket, aged Parmesan and white truffle oil whilst pressed pork belly was full of flavour served with spiced somerset apple chutney and bone marrow jus.

Roast Cod with Shetland Mussels, Lemon Butter Milk and Spinach was a generous piece of flaky fish with huge, fresh mussels in a rich sauce. Whilst this may sound like a light dish it’s actually pretty hefty. We finished with summer berry crumble and vanilla ice-cream and Eton Mess with strawberry shortbread.

It’s a great addition to the Dalston scene and once it gets in the grove we have a feeling this place will just get better and better.
