has one of the richest culinary heritages of all the American states, with a combination of classic French gastronomy combining with Caribbean flavours to make Cajun and Creole cuisine. Crawfish, gumbo and jambalaya are all inextricably connected with New Orleans and the surrounding area, and when combined with a ragtime jazz band and old fashioned paddle steamer, you have all the ingredients for the best night out this side of Mardi Gras.

For one night only on Saturday 27th July, The Sassafras Crawfish Boil is coming to London, as the Lady Daphne paddle steamer drops anchor at St Katherine’s Dock, a stone’s throw from the Tower of London, bringing a flavour of the Mississippi to the Thames. This one-off supperclub may well become a regular pop-up by the end of the summer, so look out for further events soon!

The drinks reception starts at 6pm, with dinner served at 8pm. The menu includes cajun popcorn and cocktails followed by crab remick, creole salad, crawfish boil and a special cajun dessert. The crawfish boil should be the star of the show – a chunky stew of crawfish, sweetcorn, new potatoes and artichokes, plus androuille sausage if you like turf with your surf. It’s also BYOB – so don’t forget to bring along your own booze! Laissez les bons temps rouler!
