by Burritto is a new joint in town injecting a much needed buzz into Mexican street food in Shoreditch. Taking up residency at Catch, the Old Street end of Kingsland road it is the new project from the Rebel Dining Society peeps, Shay Ola and Ryan Chetiyawarda who have raised the game with their ace cocktails and tasty grub.

We bowled in bleeding and in pain last Saturday afternoon (tattoo). With small bites, tacos, burritos and sides, the menu is inviting enough to order everything, so we did just about that. The crab cakes are in a word ‘incredible’, 100% pure crab meat they are little meaty morsels and what Peter Kay would call a ‘taste sensation’, what Peter Kay is doing in a Mexican in Shoreditch we do not know. The pork cheek with crackling burrito and the short rib with sweet potato burrito are jam packed with meat and taste. There is also the option of Baja fish and slaw and duck breast all four available in taco or burrito people. They come served with blue corn tortilla chips and deconstructed guacamole. Everyone’s a winner.

Now no good self respecting Mexican joint would go without complimenting their street food with what Mexico does best, booze. Jose Cuervo Tradicional Tequila is the running theme in the six very different cocktails on offer, we tried the Pink Paloma an infusion of Tequila raspberries and Aperol charged with homemade vanilla salted grapefruit soda, the Turbo Chelada, a good one for the lads, tastes like Desperados beer only attacked with foam and finally the Death by Julep which certainly puts the rasp in your voice.

A big exciting menu and fun loving cocktails to flirt with, defiantly worth a visit.
