‘Leave it to me, I’ll sort this barnet for you’ says our trusty, friendly hair consultant at the swanky hair salon in Camden. First off, let’s dispel a few pretentious myths that a swanky hair salon in Camden might hold. Everyone inside is not wearing new rave T-shirts, they aren’t sporting ridiculous hairdos and they have not worked in the Hawley Arms.
HOB Camden is part of the HOB Salons group, current title holders of the British Hairdresser of the Year, Colour Technician of the Year and Artistic Team of the Year. The salon located on the lockside is a hub of activity split over two floors with TV screens and plenty of magazines to keep you entertained.
With a haircut often being quite a personal experience it’s helpful to know that feeling comfortable is what you can expect here, the staff are super friendly and introduce themselves telling you what they are going to do, where you need to stand, sit, lift your arms up and pop your head back, standard hair salon type moves. After explaining ‘our vision’ it was the stylists turn to talk, explaining what was needed to make the hair style into a reality, nothing too adventurous, just a little trim here and there.
Washed and massaged it was time for the cut, throughout the experience things were explained and further more, he advised us on what to tell the next stylist cutting our hair to aid the growth. The end result was great and it was a pleasant experience, maybe us blokes are different but getting a haircut is stressful sometimes, not here though, if they served beer we might be tempted to pop in and hang out.
