had nicknamed it “The Pad” even before we’d landed in Lisbon and if you look at the photo’s you’ll understand why. Marquês de Pombal 01 is a 4 bedroom apartment located in Saldanha, the business district of the city, just a short cab ride or 15/20 minute walk from the main attractions and moments from the nearest underground station.

The apartment is so big, it takes over the entire fourth floor of it’s six-storey block. Outside in the dark, it doesn’t look like anything special and riding in the tiny, worn-out elevator we thought we’d been conned. However once inside the door we were happy to find that the apartment looked exactly like it did in the pictures. A lengthy hall leading to a living room with four sofas, 2 comfy chairs and a small balcony running along one side wall – this room alone is bigger than most London apartments!

On further exploration we wandered into the dining room with a table which seats 12 people, a bar area with enough glasswear to open a nightclub, a modern, swish red kitchen with all mod cons, another table to seat 8, a pantry with extra freezer and washing room.

For sleeping the apartment has four bedrooms, three of which are double and one twin. The master-room also has a small balcony and walk-in wardrobe. All rooms are en-suite and there’s an extra toilet too, incase all four are occupied – well you never know!

There’s free wi-fi, a double garage, TV’s and anything else you might need for a comfortable stay. Don’t even get us started on the mounds of cutlery! Yes we’ve never actually stayed in an apartment before but if Marquês de Pombal 01 aka “The Pad” is anything to go by we’ll definitely be doing it again!

What’s more because the apartment is part of Lisbon Inside Connect the owners are happy to recommend things to do in the city or give handy tips such as where the nearest supermarket is located. Oh yeah and it’s just moments away from Pastelaria Versailles, the most famous teahouse in Lisbon. If you’re planning a trip to Lisbon with your friends or to Optimus Alive like we did, then we’d seriously recommend checking out “The Pad” the closest we’ll get to living a’la MTV Cribs style.

Marquês de Pombal 01 costs from £95 per night.
