the introduction of Easyjet and BMI flights into Amman and the political unrest in Egypt more and more travellers are choosing Jordan as a Middle Eastern holiday destination. Once you’ve ticked off the main tourist stops we’d suggest heading south to Aqaba for year round sunshine, sandy beaches and some of the best diving and snorkelling the Red Sea has to offer. Aqaba has a fairly decent selection of luxury hotels with more planned in the coming years but design wise there is only one which offers minimalist, chic, modern interiors – introducing The Kempinski Aqaba.

Located on the seafront with its own private beach the hotel offers guests everything you might need for a comfortable stay including a free mini-bar which is replenished every night. All of the rooms have sea views, contemporary design furniture, mod-cons including Free WiFi and bathrooms with peek-a-boo windows so that you can watch TV from the bath or stare at the sea. The hotel also offer a catalogue of added extras such as rose petals to scatter in the deep soaking bathtubs, or better still the double bathtubs in the Panoramic Suites for extra naughtiness!

Outside of the rooms the rest of the hotel is designed so that wherever you choose to drink, eat or sit you can always see the ocean. The large heated infinity pool has a swim up bar which serves cocktails and snacks, a huge Jacuzzi and a selection of modern furniture which is perfect for lounging around and catching some rays including the super comfortable sofas crammed with cushions. The private beach is designed with pure relaxation in mind with yet more cushioned double daybeds complete with roll down sides to banish the breeze from all angles and staff on hand to carry your towels and bring you water – heaven!

The hotel also offers a selection of places for eating and drinking including Fish-In which according to the staff is “the best fish restaurant in Aqaba” located slap bang on the beach front, Aqua Lounge with an impressive cocktail list and views of the sunset and The Black Pearl nightclub for dancing and decadence. There is also a luxury spa, decent sized gym and a huge breakfast buffet, so big you could eat there all week and never eat the same thing twice. This is one hotel you can happily stay put in for weeks on end.
